Associated-Rediffusion
As one of the inaugural ‘Big Four’ companies granted franchises under The Television Act of 1954, Associated-Rediffusion Television made its debut on September 22, 1955. The company provided weekday broadcasts to London and its surrounding counties. On April 6, 1964, it underwent a rebranding to become Rediffusion London. However, its broadcasting tenure came to an end on July 26, 1968, when the Independent Television Authority (ITA) mandated a merger with ABC, leading to the creation of Thames Television.
