TVS 1987 – 1989 Branding

When Greg Dyke arrived at TVS he ordered a complete rethink for the stations presentation. John Hayman designed several new idents for the relaunch with the aid of computers, the use of the TVS symbol was now scaled back and a greater emphasis was placed on the new metalic word logo. The introduction of the new look also brought an end to daytime in-vision announcements. Meanwhile Ed Welch (composer of the Blockbusters themetune amongst others) composed a new signature tune for station which was also adapted for use on Coast to Coast. The new look first appeared on 7th September 1987.

TVS In-Vision Continuity

Although most in-vision was no longer used during the day, the new overnight service continued to utilise this feature. Late Night Late started on 25th January 1988, but only broadcast for a few hours, until 20th June 1988 when TVS and Channel become fully 24 hours.
