24 hour television arrived in 1988. TVS branded its overnight programming strand Late Night Late and in vision continuity returned with the presenters reading viewers letters and sometimes holding competitions. Channel Television also took the overnight service from TVS and the 6am continuity link into TV-am was also made over an unbranded clock and the words 'This is Independent Television in the South, South East and the Channel Islands'.
