ITV1 2004 – 2006 Branding

On 1st November 2004 another look was introduced. Though this appeared to be a more traditional look on the surface, the plan was for idents to promote upcoming programmes with the boxes unfurling to show a clip from a programme still to come. ITV took on extra APs to produce these, but within a year use of these “promotional” idents became less and less to the point of non-existant.

ITV Day – April 2005

The 11th April 2005 saw the launch of ITV Day. The idents feature people doing various everyday tasks and appear warm due to the choice of colours. The creaters, Bruce Dunlop Associates said the following about their design: “ITV Day effectively creates a new brand, which along with a change in programming and schedule will alter viewer perceptions. The package is based around a logo and colour scheme that delineates the ITV DAY branding from the rest of ITV1. The scheme of yellow, orange, and red represents the colour and warmth of the sun. The ITV logo remains blue as a link to the rest of the ITV family of logos. The package was produced using an innovative combination of live action and animation. The people featured in the idents were shot in a blue screen studio while the backgrounds and some foreground elements were created in 3D.”

ITV 50 Special Idents

10th September 2005 saw ITV launch these idents for their 50th birthday celebrations. They were used for 3 weeks.
