2015 – Present

On 1st July 2015 a new look was unvield, created by Mike Moloney and William Mercer at Art&Graft, and Scott Russell at UKTV.Art&Graft designed and developed the brand refresh for Alibi which needed to create a distinctive personality that remained true to the heritage of the channel, whilst also reflecting the new brand proposition of offering viewers a "masterclass in deduction. Art&Graft were approached to evolve the core Alibi branding and produce a new, premium, on-screen package which could build on the heritage of the channel, whilst also appealing to new audiences and communicate the channel's passion for crime solving with deduction. The new look capture the thought process around a crime scene in its most minimal, conceptual form by stripping back each scene to a few pieces of evidence connected together by a web of red string. The recognisable image of the string joining various pieces of evidence on a crime detective's pin-board was transported into a physical space. The red string acts as a device to join up the evidence within each scene, slowly piecing together the puzzle together, and urging the viewers to construct and question what they believe may have taken place.Celia Bayne, UKTV Senior Producer said " Art&Graft were an absolute pleasure to work with from initial pitch all the way through to delivery. They've kept us updated at every stage of the refresh, working to a rigid schedule and managing a complex list of deliverables whilst remaining flexible. They are a close, friendly team and it's been fantastic talking to the same people through the whole process. The four idents are particularly stunning and were all shot in very different locations within 2 days by a really friendly, nimble crew. We felt in very safe hands during the whole refresh!Adrian Wills, the general manager at UKTV for Alibi, said: " We launched the channel six years ago and it's established itself as a loved destination for fans of crime drama, with an enviable mix of high quality British and US content. It is now the right time to mark the next stage in Alibi's evolution by infusing its brand identity with a contemporary edge to reflect its high quality output. As part of the rebrand UKTV placed a two-metre high replica of a human skull,London's South Bank. The skull was set in a tonne of mud in an area cordoned off with crime scene tape as three forensic scientists studied the area.
