True Entertainment replaced Showcase TV on 3 August 2009. The change was originally scheduled to happen on 1st July 2009. True Entertainment launched on 3 August 2009.

On Tuesday 10th September 2019, Sony overhauled its channel portfolio, which resulted in True Entertainment being relaunched as Sony Channel.
