After Mary Tyler Moore ended after 7 seasons in 1977, her boss Lou Grant (Ed Asner) got his own series, which eschewed comedy for being a serious drama about the cutthroat world of journalism. It lasted 5 seasons from 1977 until 1982, still being shown by 1985 on Channel 4!
