The Early Beatles was an hour long documentary produced by Granada Television for the ITV network. The programme was conceived by Granada's Head of Light Entertainment, John Hamp in 1982 and was due to be shown later that year but due to the wealth of archive material in wasn't finished until 1983. It was eventually transmitted on 1st January 1984.
