John MacKay
John MacKay anchors Scotland’s most watched news programme, the STV News at Six, and its most popular current affairs programme, Scotland Tonight. He joined STV after seven years at BBC Scotland working on radio and TV. He has reported on most of the major stories in Scotland in recent times, including the Lockerbie bombing, the Dunblane shootings, the creation of the Scottish Parliament and the Scottish independence referendum.
His writing and production credits include several documentaries and news programmes featuring such diverse subjects as Auschwitz, the Diary of a Pipe Band and Sir Alex Ferguson. John has written four novels and one, ‘The Road Dance’, has been adapted into an award winning film.
