Minder

Dennis Waterman quit at the end of the seventh series in 1989, so Gary Webster was brought in as Arthur's new "minder", his nephew Ray Daley when the series returned for its eighth series in 1991. The series continued to be a ratings winner but in March 1994 after 10 series and 114 episodes, Arthur's past finally caught up with him. In the closing minutes of the final episode, Arthur is put into the back of a prison van along with Ray and Dave after being arrested for Harbouring a dangerous criminal in the lock-up. Waterman no longer sung the the-e-e-e-eme to-o-o-on, but despite the jazzier arrangement of I Could Be So Good for You in the last few series, I always preferred his original.
