BBC News After Noon 1981 – 1986

News After Noon launched on 7th September 1981 and replaced a much shorter lunchtime news bulletin called The Midday News. It was initially billed as “the first television news of the day”. Richard Whitmore was the main presenter alongside either Moira Stuart or Frances Coverdale.

New look appeared in Autumn 1984, however the titles remained the same.
