On 27th October 1986, BBC One introduced a new daytime schedule. As part of the new raft of programmes, News after noon was replaced with “One O’Clock News” originality presented by Martyn Lewis. Martyn moved in Autumn 1987 with Michael Buerk becoming the main presenter, within a year Philip Hayton become the main presenter.
