1980s

Before the idea of a 10pm news on WTAF even existed, the station DID program a news at 10. This news wasn’t local – it was from WPIX, which had started offering a national version of its respected newscast to stations across the country. The Independent Network News, as it was called, was picked up by TV29 and run in the prime 10pm spot. This led to the interesting sight of WPIX anchors Steve Bosh, Pat Harper, and Bill Jorgenson appearing in promos during TV29 programming. INN ran until the end of the decade, although WTAF started its own news in 1986. More coverage on INN and WPIX News will appear on its own page later this year.
