Day By Day 1970s

In the early days Southern only transmitted a short 5 minute news bulletin which followed the ITN News. The newsreaders included Meryl O’Keefe, Martin Muncaster, Mel Oxley and Julian Pettifer.On Tuesday 4th April 1961, Southern launched a weekday regional news magazine, called “Day By Day”. It was a full 30 minutes bulletin and continue until the company stopped broadcasting at the end of 1981. Early presenters included Barry Westwood, Julian Pettifer and Tony Bilbow.
