Play School

Play School had a trendy revamp in 1983, including in content. The windows and pets were dropped and a new ball bearing driven clock added, which made Concorde seem quiet. The revamp quickly went out of fashion and many items returned. In April 1985 the afternoon repeat was dropped, and although a weekend omnibus was added (a la EastEnders) the writing was on the wall. 11th March 1988 saw the final edition, and the replacement Playbus (later Playdays) launched to a public outcry. It was not as long running or for that matter, as loved, as Play School. This episode was originally shown on 4th November 1985 but this recording is from a repeat showing.
