The Stanley Baxter Picture Show Specials (2)

The series was followed by three specials, shown between 1973 and 1975, two of which are "The Big Picture Show" and "The Picture Show Part 3" The latter, shown on 19/09/1975, features a famous spoof of "The Towering Inferno", in which Baxter plays both the trapped heroine and her hunky rescuer. His other much-admired sketch from this period was "Upstage Downstage", a satire of LWT's "Upstairs Downstairs" in which he played all the parts. It is a triumph of studio shooting and editing that involves multiple make-up/costume changes and the use of doubles for every character.
