Tales of the Unexpected

There's no doubt that 'Tales of the Unexpected' was one of the most famous cult shows on British television in the late seventies and for much of the eighties. Each episode told a story, often with sinister and wryly comedic undertones, with an unexpected twist ending. This episode called 'The Landlady' was is about a young man who moves to Bath to take up his first job from home. He decides to take a room with a charmingly maternal if eccentric landlady. Her dog and cat are both stuffed and the only other names in her guest-book seem vaguely familiar to him from the newspaper but he cannot think why. Sadly he will never find out as he drinks the landlady's poisoned tea and dies as the landlady plans to add him to her collection of stuffed creatures.
