In 1994, This Is Your Life transferred from ITV to BBC1 and Michael Aspel, who had replaced Eamonn Andrews when Eamonn died in 1987, continued as host. The programme had originally been shown on BBC1 in the late 1950s and early 1960s before ITV transmitted the show for 25 years.
