In 2005, the BBC’s Ghost Story for Christmas strand was revived with this adaptation of M.R. James’ short story, published in the 1925 book A Warning to the Curious and Other Ghost Stories, this was a modern telling filmed in the Thames Valley, and it’s started a semi-regular resurgence of Ghost Stories for Christmas since then.
