Watch Second look was officially launched on 23rd September 2010, with the tag line “Watchtogether”. Creative agency Harriman Steel were tasked with creating the new look for the channel; 4 new live action idents draw their inspiration from the Japanese Black Theatre. Tom Lucas, Director of Marketing and Communications, says, “I was delighted with the originality and simplicity of Harriman Steel’s approach. They have created an invaluable kit of parts and a magical and uplifting world of shared enjoyment. UKTV’s Head of Creative, Matt Scarff, adds, “We’ve managed to create distinctive and exciting channel idents that are truly unique. The combination of Japanese Black Theatre and the innovative way we’ve directed each film, has created what I believe, are mini pieces of entertainment that our viewers will want to watch again and again. “
Watch Third look officially appeared on Friday 9th March 2012, although since Mid February most of the presentation bar idents had already switched to the new logo. Dixon Baxi created the new look describing it as “an upfront, unapologetic identity that felt surprising – it’s very dynamic and front-footed”

On Monday 15th February 2016 Watch was rebranded as W. Its new look was created by Ink and Giants and UKTV own in house team. UKTV controller Emma Tennant, said, “UKTV is known for peerlessly strong channel brands, which guide audiences to shows that are perfect for them. W will be no different, a premium channel for smart women and men seeking high-quality escapism.” Steve North, W’s general manager, said: ” We have a treasure trove of compelling original commissions, our own crown jewels. Plus the gold standard of US acquisitions, combined with the best shows from the BBC. We want to dazzle our viewers and have evolved and honed this entertainment channel, building a schedule that entertains but never patronises. UKTV has spotted a demographic growth area for W in 30 to 39-year-old women and their partners, husbands and family, with whom they share a love of smart entertainment. W’s programming includes our new authored documentary strand, which covers modern life in the digital age – from dating and friendship, to the cult of celebrity. We also have shining, new entertainment properties that focus on key life moments, like getting married (Get Me To The Church) and buying a first home (Honey I Bought the House) as well as one of the nation’s favourite dramas, EastEnders, on air just a few hours after its BBC One premiere as well as bringing back the omnibus. The peak W schedule will include a host of glittering US series.”
