Local news in the London area was provided by Thames and LWT during weekdays and weekends respectively. Such alumni as Andrew Gardener, Robin Houston and Penny Smith were regular faces and some of the Thames journalists went on to London News Network (co founded by LWT and Carlton) when Thames lost their franchise. Today, London Tonight and daytime bulletins are known as ITV News London, regardless of day
