Val's time as a regular presenter was coming to an end about this time, Lesley Judd had been introduced and Val was filming the Royal Safari with Princess Anne (The Princess Royal) and doing 'Special Assignment' films which were shown apart from the regular Blue Peter broadcasts. After leaving Val appeared in Nationwide, a revived 'Tonight' news programme and the Money Programme.
