Anglia Television

The launch of ITV in the East of England took place on October 27th, 1959, under the chairmanship of Aubrey Buxton. Anglia, renowned for its high-quality dramas and iconic wildlife program ‘Survival’. quickly established a strong reputation. In 1993, Anglia acquired Cosgrove-Hall Animation from Thames. The following year, the company was taken over by Meridian Broadcasting, which later merged with United Newspapers and acquired HTV in 1996. A failed merger with Carlton in 2000 was followed by Granada’s acquisition of Meridian and Anglia, which has been known as ITV Anglia since 2004.
