BBC Two 1997 – 2001 Branding

In its October 1997 relaunch, BBC2 preserved the original charm of the ‘2’ emblem, a creation of Martin Lambie-Nairn and Daniel Barber. While some of the channel’s original idents were maintained and updated with the new BBC logo, a fresh set of five idents – also designed by Lambie-Nairn – were introduced. Additional idents were conceived and executed by BBC Broadcast.

Following this update, the channel refrained from introducing new ‘2’ idents for an extended period. However, the advent of digital TV in October 1998 marked a milestone: for the first time, viewers could experience these idents in widescreen format.

BBC Two Refresh – 2000

By 2000 the idents had been updated to include the BBC website URL.
